Tier 1 Tennis follows the USTA American Development Model, providing age-appropriate training that prioritizes long-term player development over short-term results. Our coaching staff builds individualized development plans that integrate technical, tactical, physical, and mental training into every stage of the pathway.
Players don't just hit balls — they follow a structured progression model. From red ball introduction through national junior competition, each level has clear benchmarks, competitive expectations, and development goals. Players advance when they're ready, not when a calendar says so.

Academy Programs
PROGRAMS AND PLACEMENT
Tier 1 runs four program families: Core, Development, Academy and Full-Time. Placement in every group is a coaching decision based on evaluation, commitment and competitive readiness, and it moves with the player, in either direction, as they develop.
Ages, ball colors and UTR levels are guides, not cutoffs. They describe who is typically in a group, not who qualifies for it. A player can sit outside a listed range and still be in exactly the right group. If you're unsure where your child fits, that's what the evaluation is for.

WHY TIER 1
Coaching matters. Systems matter more.
There are many ways to run a session. Building a player requires structure.
At Tier 1, development follows defined standards. Progression is earned, not assumed.
Repetition shapes technique. Technique shapes results. Early foundations save time.
Minimum 1 day per week · No application or evaluation · No tournament requirement
Beginner Classes
Core Jump Start
Core Red
Core Orange
Core Green
Core Yellow
Core is where players start, including players who have never picked up a racket. Players progress through the ball colors at their own pace, and Jump Start is a smaller group for closer attention early on.
From Core, there are three paths, and all three are real choices: move into the Development track when a coach sees the interest and the level; add private lessons alongside Core classes; or stay in Core and play for the fun of it, for as long as they like.
Tournaments aren't required in Core, but any player who wants to compete should tell a coach. We'll help find the right first event.
Core was previously called RPM.
Core needs no application: register through the club.
The bridge into early competitive tennis: controlled pace, rally consistency, spacing, recovery, movement, point construction, decision-making and emotional control.
For competitive players preparing for match play, tournaments and school competition.
Tournament play is encouraged and supported in Development, not required.
Academy
Coach approval required
For advanced younger players building toward sectional, national or collegiate competition.
An elite training environment for advanced players committed to consistent, intentional high-performance development.
Regular tournament competition is required in both Academy groups, planned with the coaching team.
Full-Time
Technical and tactical training, match play, athletic development, mental preparation, tournament travel, academic support, recovery and supervised daily structure.
Competition and tournament travel are built into both Full-Time programs.
How to join
Core needs no application: register through the club. Development, Academy and Full-Time are admissions-based. Apply, and a coach will run an evaluation, which is a coaching session, not an audition.

THE RIGHT ENTRY POINT
Tier 1 Performance is based in Woodinville, Washington and serves Eastside families from Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, and nearby communities through academy pathways, tennis classes, intro programs, private lessons, and golf training.
Not every player starts with full-time academy training. Tier 1 also supports Woodinville-area families through junior tennis classes, Tier 1 Core for new players, and private lessons that connect directly into our long-term pathway.
JUNIOR TENNIS CLASSES
Year-round class pathways for developing players who want structured coaching, strong fundamentals, and a clear next step.
For high school players, Tier 1 partners with American College Placement (ACP) to guide families through college recruiting. Tier 1 coaches contribute an honest assessment of each player's level and build the training and tournament plan that supports their goals. ACP runs the recruiting process.
HONEST ASSESSMENT
Tier 1 coaches give each family a straight read on the player's level and what comes next.
TRAINING & TOURNAMENT PLAN
The coaching team builds the training and competition schedule that supports the player's college goals.
ACP RUNS THE PROCESS
